PROGRAM CONTROL


The Population Analysis System should normally run from the default directory which contains all the PAS programs, help files and so on. When you are in the default directory in the DOS operating system, the path D:\PAS > should appear on the computer screen, where D: refers to the disk drive containing the PAS directory. You can load the PAS Shell by typing PAS and pressing Enter from the default directory. From there you can access any program by pressing the appropriate numbers. Alternatively, you can run a program independently from the DOS prompt > by entering the code name specified; e.g., P1a, P1b, etc. It is sometimes necessary to run PAS from another drive or directory, particularly when using operating systems other than DOS. Under these conditions you should always enter the UTILITIES MENU and check if the path to your PAS files is correctly specified. If not, press 3 and enter the correct path before proceeding to run PAS programs. Note that help files cannot be accessed unless the correct path to the PAS directory is defined.
