Objectives

For the student to

  1. Know the basics of arthropod classification
  2. Know the general external and internal anatomy of insects
  3. Know the development and life cycle of insects
  4. Know the major insect orders of importance in forests
  5. Know some of the major families of forest insects
  6. Know some of the species that cause problems in northwestern forests
  7. Know some of the species that are beneficial in forest environments
  8. Know how to recognize the damage caused by forest insects
